introduction
Well Blogger, let me brief you in about Borneo. Borneo is the third largest island in the world. It is located at the centre of the Malay archipelago and Indonesia. It is considered to be part of the geographic region of Southeast Asia.
Administratively, this island is divided between Indonesia, Malaysia and Brunei.
· The Indonesian provinces of East, South, West and Central Kalimantan
· The Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak (the Federal Territory of Labuan is located on nearshore islands of Borneo, but not on the island of Borneo itself)
· The independent sultanate of Brunei Darussalam (main part and eastern exclave of Temburong)
Borneo is surrounded by the South China Sea to the north and northwest, the Sulu Sea to the northeast, the Celebes Sea and the Makassar Strait to the east, and the Java Sea and Karimata Strait to the south.
The highest point in Borneo is Mount Kinabalu in Sabah, Malaysia, with an elevation of 4,095 m (13,435 ft) above sea level. This makes it the world's third highest island.
Borneo is also very rich in biodiversity compared to many other areas. There are many species of flowering plants, terrestrial mammals and birds found in Borneo.
The remaining Borneo rainforest is the only natural habitat for the endangered Bornean Orangutan. Borneo also an important refuge for many endemic forest species such as the Asian Elephant, the Sumatran Rhinoceros and the Bornean Clouded Leopard.
There are over 30 ethnic groups living in Borneo, making the population of this island one of the most variegated of human social groups. The native ethnic groups are Austronesians and their languages belong to the Malayo-Polynesian language family.

Known to the world as "THE LAND BELOW THE WIND", Sabah is rich not only in natural beauty and resources, but also in the cultural heritage of its people.
The main ethnic groups are: the Dusun/Kadazan - the largest group who make up nearly one third of the population, the Murut, the Paitan and the Bajau. Other indigenous groups include the Bonggi, the Iranun, the Ida'an and the Brunei. In addition, the Chinese make up the main nonindigenous group. Therefore, the people of Sabah are varied in their respective cultural backgrounds.

selamat datang - welcome

welcome blogger! thanks for stopping by. i'm new here so you won't see much right now. This blog is to share info about my home town : sabah, malaysia.
I like traveling most but neither I got the time nor the expenses in doing so. Beside, as a government servant, I have to comply to several rules and regulation discouraging me traveling overseas. As I cannot fulfill my liking, I think why not I write about my place so that others who are traveling to Sabah, Malaysia can have some information about my place. From now on, I will try to provide you all with what information I shall get. Should you have any questions to ask, I will be glad to help in any way I can. Do not hesitate to do so.
See ya soon!
